6 Face Masks That Would Also Make a Great Sandwich Spread

Have you ever looked up “DIY face mask” and realized you have eaten some of these masks for dinner?

Sometimes we have to treat our outsides the way we treat our insides, and get some essential nutrients. Next time you make yourself a sandwich, be an eco queen and reuse that knife to slather on the droplets of sauce to make yourself a glowing skin care treatment. These DIYs are perfect for you freegans who are looking to save a buck or you minimalists who are looking for multi-use items. Now you know: the best place to shop for skincare is the grocery store!

1. Honey and Cinnamon

Put this lovely duo on your face and then make yourself a sweet little breakfast. Perhaps add some strawberries, cream cheese, or jam. I recommend using brioche bread, or even splitting a muffin open and putting these spreads in between.

2. Avocado and Olive Oil

A nice hearty sandwich with good fats. Almost like a dermatology salad. Put this on some slices of toasted baguette, add some tomatoes, and you’ve got yourself a wonderful bruschetta. Use the olive oil as a scrub by adding some sugar. You’ll look good enough to eat.

3. Cucumber and aloe vera

You can live out your dreams of putting a cucumber on your eyes, taking a bite, and putting it back on! It’s a classic skincare-snack combo. Step it up by adding some aloe vera to your drink. Put that glossy gloop onto your hair, face, WHEREVER. It’s gonna do somethin’.

4. Lemon and egg white

You’re looking at a refreshing egg sandwich here. Add some bacon and cheese, then turn that lemon juice into an aioli and you’re cooking with heat, baby. Slap some fried eggs onto your eyes instead of cucumbers, and you can have a mask that is high in protein and hilarity.

5. Oatmeal and sugar

Both are great exfoliators and, combined, they make a delicious breakfast. Make some overnight oats while finishing your nighttime routine. Add the face mask from number one and you’ll satisfy your sweet tooth AND your dermatologist’s recommendations.

6. Coconut oil

Did you know you can make grilled cheese with coconut oil? Beware: do not use sizzling coconut oil from a saucepan as a face mask. You can fry a ton of sandwich ingredients with coconut oil, or toast the bread with a vegan flare.
