Bubonic Squirrels and Other Plot Holes the 2020 Writers Should Fix

Who else has been keeping up with the current season of “Mankind 2020?” Is it just me or does it feel like the final season? It just seems like the writers are making a desperate effort to keep us engaged by incorporating too many twists and turns. Funny part is, they really don’t need to do that. The presidential campaign, that was meant to serve as a last ditch effort to save the democracy of global super power, was enough. It’s not just all the weird additions though… there are so many plot holes that, to be completely honest, I don’t know how they are going to wrap up all the loose ends of.

First off, they just abandoned the whole Australia fires storyline, only to retry the same idea nine months later in California. This one definitely has a better apocalyptic effect, with the orange glowing skies and everything (that’s really cool) but what now? They’re just going to set something else alight? Oh, and having part of the fires being started by a gender reveal party is a little trite. They can’t keep pushing the “people are selfish assholes” trope. We get it!

What. Happened. To. The. Killer. Hornets. They just straight up gave up on that. I mean, it seemed like overkill when they were trying to spin out the global pandemic storyline, but at least it was original! They just never mentioned it again. Do they think we all just forgot about that? Because I sure didn’t. They better not try to bring them back for the election day finale because I will blow a fuse.

They are playing a lot with animals in this season. It was a relief that it wasn’t just polar bears and bees dying this time. A bat starting a widespread deadly virus? Bubonic squirrels? Monkeys stealing vials of infected blood? At least they were trying something new but, again, they abandoned most of it. A black plague rodent? Really? How overdone is that? And did they think we wouldn’t see that they were blatantly copying  Jumanji with the monkeys breaking into a lab? I swear they think we’re idiots. Also, the coronavirus plot line has been dragged on way too long.

Now there are rumors that they are trying to have an asteroid hit earth on the US election day. What a predictable ending. If they decide to extend for a 2021 season, I will not watch it. That is just such a lazy move. Where do they find these writers? It’s like they have way too many new ideas, while at the same time having no idea whatsoever! It’s just such a horrible season… I mean I’m still going to hate watch it, but still!
